I recovered the Aveda Spa at Osceola, improving its P&L by $300,000 the first year. I then took over Aveda’s Human Resources Department, reducing turnover from 49% to 19% in 15 months, during which time I reduced the HR budget 10%, and still came in $60,000 under budget. I then started Aveda Corp.’s Spa Business Development department.
Since 1994, I have been an independent business development consultant, focusing on start-ups, recoveries and next-level development. I have an emphasis in the spa industry, though I have worked for businesses in other areas, focusing on improving net profit.
I have lived overseas, primarily in Africa, for 15 years. Consequently, I respect diverse cultures, both social and business, and am able to work successfully with many different types of personalities and styles. I am currently regaining proficiency in Spanish.
